Cyrusher XF650, Affordable Mountain Ebike I bought two of these online at the end of May 2022. They came partially pre-assembled but had no instructions to complete the assembly. Once the bikes were completely assembled, as I was able to get the proper regs and instructions for the parts that I did need to assemble, I gave them to my two teenage boys. I have been mountain biking since 1995, never pro, but all over the country, and always did a lot of my own work on my bikes. With these two bikes, next to completely stripping the bikes down to check for any malfunctions or defects, I inspected them as they were, pre-assembled. I took my time and carefully adjusted, tightened, and put the right amount of air in tubes, test rides, etc...so that my boys would be as safe as possible with the functioning of the bikes. After a week of making sure the bikes were ready, the boys rode them that whole day and everything still checked out okay. The next day, on June 1st my son, took off on his bike to go to school in the morning. While riding in the bike lane, at around 25 mph, he said he was suddenly thrown from the bike but had no idea why. He ended up with a broken right knee, broken left wrist, and road rash on his right hand left leg, and left shoulder. He luckily was cleared from trauma 2 level and was discharged from ER that night. It took 6 weeks to get out of the cast and he had to miss going to his camp in VT that he had been going to since he was 8. When I found my son at the site of the incident, I found the wheel completely flat, mind you I had just checked it the night before, and, the wheel was about 200 yards from where his bike was. No glass or any potholes around. No cars were involved. Nothing that would have caused his wheel to separate from the bike that was on the road or around him to go flat, or to cause a blowout. I have never had a quick-release separate like that in a blowout, but it did appear to be a blowout. When I took the tire and tube off the
I was riding a Specialized Rockhopper bicycle, when the right side crank cracked off. I was riding up a hill, and because of the sheer of the crank, I totally lost my footing and crashed to the street. Fortunately, there were no cars in the roadway, or else I could have been hit by a car. As it was, I suffered scratches on my elbow, and knee. I also had several pulled muscles, which have taken a few weeks and am still not 100%. I did not need medical attention. This occurred on September 12, 2011. I have had this bike about 5 years now, and have ridden it about 6500 miles before the part failure. I have since found out that the failed part is Shimano FC-MC12, was subject to recall for this type of failure. I only found out about the problem when I was reserarching options for part replacement. I have taken the parts to my local bike store, to see if Shimano is still honering the recall replacement of parts.
The consumer stated that his son was riding around a bike course with his brother, at approximately 10-15 mph. They rode down the hill, and when the hill swept back up again, the downtube and toptube frame on his sons bike broke off. The consumer's son was ejected from the bike and fell on his head. The consumer's son was examined by the paramedic on the scene. The consumer's son injured his neck and was diagnosed with whiplash. The consumer's son suffered from whiplash until recently (for about month and half). He also had a black eye. The consumer' son was wearing a helmet which cracked when he fell on his head. The consumer contacted the dealer regarding the incident. The dealer took photos of the frame and submitted the information to Felt. The dealer informed the consumer that Felt will offer frame replacement for $500. The consumer informed the dealer that he does not feel that he should have to pay for this. He asked the dealer to contact Felt and have them examine the bike. The consumer sent the bike to Felt and paid $50 for shipping. After examining the bike, Felt offered the consumer frame replacement for $250. The consumer was not informed what happened to the frame. The consumer asked to have the engineers look at the frames closely to find out what caused it to break. After the engineers examined the bike, Felt offered to have the frames replaced for $594. Felts informed the consumer that the engineers looked at the frame and found nothing structurally wrong with it. After that, the consumer contacted Felt directly. The consumer was informed that the frame functioned as structurally designed and that there was no flaw in the frame. The consumer informed Felt that he does not feel comfortable purchasing another frame that can function and break in the same way after a few months of use. The consumer asked for his money back. Felt informed the consumer that they don't issue refunds directly and that he would have to contact the dealer.
Front tire suddenly dislodged from bike while my son was riding down the driveway, serial number WTU176JV1688 T and Trek MARLIN 5 XS 27.5 RD 2022-2023. Substantial mouth and teeth damage/trauma occurred. Bike was brought to bike shop to inspect and they believe the bikes quick release mechanism malfunctioned causing the tire to come off suddenly as there were no premeditated causes or events to explain this. Bike drove fine on way to fishing and way home until tire suddenly released in driveway.
I was riding my 2013 Trek Marlin mountain bike and the front wheel slipped off the front fork. Everything happened so quick the tire jerked to the right or left (I can't remember) and my handlebars and fork stayed straight causing me to go over the handlebars. Fortunately I did not sustain major injuries; just some cuts and bruises. The front disc brake and wheel are bent. I immediately took the bike into the Trek store to get it repaired and noticed there was a recall sheet on the counter that involved my bike. What happened to me seems to be consistent with other reports involving the Suntour front fork.
I am the owner of a Coleman Mountain Bike 2100; I was riding the bike on, Sunday July 5, 2015 and all of a sudden, the bike locked up, throwing me over the handlebars and I went skidding down a sidewalk. When I finally realized what happened, I was covered in blood from my head, arms, and knees. A gentleman stopped to see if I was indeed ok. My glasses were broken, bike damaged, helmet dented on top and scratches all over entire helmet. I was seen in the ER with a severe concussion, bleeding into the skull, major contusions on both legs, arms and a huge hematoma above my right eye along with a cut. I was prescribed pain medications and antibiotics for ten days and was seen in follow-up due to severe headaches and was told I will still continue to have headaches and have not been able to go back to work. My legs, and arms are healing, however will be scarred permanently. If I had not been wearing my helmet, I would not be here today. I continue to Dr. and will have permanent scarring, I wish to find out whom I need to contact in regards to this matter. The consumers have pictures, however attorney is in possession of them.
The bicycle fork failed on a Carver Bicycles Ti O'Beast fat bike fork. Where the steerer meets the crown separated, causing the rider, [REDACTED], to lose control and crash while riding his mountain bike on a trail near Cable, Wisconsin. The rider was airlifted to the nearest level 1 trauma center where 11 days later succumbed from his injuries.
I purchased a Trek Top Fuel 5 mountain bike (2024 model) that developed a dangerous drivetrain defect. The chain and cassette repeatedly skipped under load, especially in the smallest cogs (10T/12T). This caused sudden loss of pedal engagement and it threw me off. It also nearly threw me off the bike on multiple occasions, including while climbing and while standing. The product was used as intended for cross-country riding. Despite more than a dozen service visits, multiple drivetrain replacements (3 chains, 2+ cassettes, rear wheel), and tune-ups, the defect persists. Trek and its authorized dealer failed to resolve the issue or provide accurate documentation of repairs. This defect poses a serious safety risk of ejection/fall, and the lack of durable performance or proper service records makes it impossible to ensure safety.
