Manufucturer: General Electric Model Number: DCLR333GTWW The dryer's lint filter leaves an air gap around the filter that allows lint to pass through the dryer venting system. I contacted GE to let them know of the dryer design, but the technician I met and spoke to said that was normal. That the dryer should be be venting lint through the duct system and pushing lint outdoors. GE seems to believe that the problem is a non-issue since the dryer is old. That is unacceptable as the dryer still is a fire hazard without an above-average maintenance schedule. This air gap was not never fully explained to me, but it seems certain that it is a design flaw. GE has stopped building the parts for the venting part that the filter sits on, however, they need to repair any existing dryers with the air gap issue, by either changing the lint filter part or the part that the lint filter sits on so that lint is not allowed to flow through the dryer venting system.

Kemore elite gas dryer 417.93142300 lint that fell into machine from the lint trap ignited fire causing fire (and now water) damage to house. doing a brief search online, I found this is an ongoing issue with this appliance. This appliance should be recalled before someone dies!!!!

Our LG Gas dryer started to leak gas into our home when it was not in use. Kind of scary. We had it fixed. The valve assembly failed and needed to be replaced. Not sure if this is a widespread problem.

The dryer heating vent is burning & rusting away. The dryer exhaust vent paint is peeling off. Location of both vents is inside the drum where the light is mounted on the back. ((12/01/2009) The consumer stated that he put a load of clothes in the dryer. He turned on the dryer. It would not come on immediately. There was a strong odor of gas. The consumer waited and the dryer finally ignited. (12/2009) The consumer called LG. A technician was sent out to replace the igniter. The consumer stated that the problem still continued at times. (08/29/2014) The incident happened again. (09/03/2014) The consumer called LG. He was referred to a service agency which would require him to pay for the service call and labor.

Frigidaire Gas Dryer model GLGR1042FS Caught fire. Fire started in electric motor and spread to other parts of the dryer including wiring, plastic parts. The area of the origin is not accessible to the consumer for cleaning or service. Fire department pried open the case to extinguish the fire.

I have an LG gas dryer. the dryer does not function properly. It is a major safety hazard. In many situation the danger of this dryer may go un noticed. If functioning; when the flame on the dryer goes out or fails to ignite the gas valves on the unit should close automatically. In this case the dryer does not close the gas valves, instead it continues to pump gas into the fire tube even though there is no flame. This is not brief, it will actually continue to pump raw un-burned natural gas into the unit for however long the dryer cycle is set for. In the beginning of my statement i mentioned that this can go un-noticed. Here is how. 1) if the flame does not go out no one will ever know that the safety shut off is not functioning. 2) the dryer is generally vented to outside the house and if vented properly the gasses will simply flow out of the house almost un-detectected, that does not mean that it not present incredible danger. For instance if there was an ignition source by the dryer vent it would surely ignite. If something was to block the vent it would fill the house with deadly gas. I am sure you can use your imagination. LG has several other models with similar issues where the unit keeps pumping fuel with the fire lit after the cycle is finish I am sure if you researched it you would find the same parts exist. my dryer is an LG TROM model # is DLG7188rm S/N 701KWRE02814

I have an ongoing safety concern with my LG Gas Dryer (model# DLGX2502V) which remains unresolved since nearly the date of purchase. Shortly after delivery I noticed a strong smell of gas from the unit, only present while running. I ran all service lines to the appliance with a gas detection monitor and discovered no leaks. While observing the operation of the unit to ascertain the root cause of issue it was quickly determined that the gas control valve was opening after the heating sequence was complete and without the presence of a heat source. As a result the dryer was venting NG through the system and outside the house. This continues to be an ongoing issue. To which I cannot seem to get resolution. The units were new when purchased, under warranty, under extended service agreement and due to the information below no one would even look at the unit. NOTE: Due to issues with retailer at the time of purchase, delivery delays, and a concurrent multi-year extended third-party service contract this unit has not been reviewed by any service personnel. That is another monster of a fiasco to which this medium is not an appropriate venue. The short version is relevant however: two-month delay in delivery of unit led to retailer refusing to return unit because it too much time passed since the original purchase date, at purchase retailer improperly recorded service contract information into system which then failed to completely register the third-party service contract (contract shown with third-party provider, but not associated with any devices - third-party was never able to resolve issue; contract has expired), according to retailer LG refused to authorize retailer (Home Depot) to service unit due to presence of third-party agreement even while under manufacturer warranty, LG support contacted via email with no response, LG support contacted via telephone with declaration that there was no defect in unit.
