I recently purchased and tested out the "Hearing Things" game manufactured by Hasbro. Immediately upon placing the headphones on my ears in accordance with the instructions it became obvious that the volume produced by the headphones exceeded safe levels, especially when considering this product is marketed for use by children as young as 12
Onkyo TX-NR-1008 receiver stopped working and showed blinking red power light indicating 'protection mode'. Disconnected all connections, unplugged, waited 2 days, plugged in and powered on as per manual. Product caught fire, with visible orange flames, heat, odor of melting plastic. Fire subsided after about 5 minutes after unplugging product. Onkyo USA auth svc center refused to acknowledge product was defective, and did not repair or replace it. Onkyo USA customer service supported this opinion.
While charging the toy using a USB charger, we started smelling burning plastic so we disconnected the toy from the charger and set the toy aside. A few seconds later, the toy spontaneously exploded.
