Lacerated finger on sharp edge corner of battery cover when sliding open.
Swimp3 player made by Finis allows you to listen to music while swimming The swimp3 player needs to plug in to your usb drive every few hours of use in order to recharge it or to add or delete music. When I plugged it in yesterday, I started to smell burning rubber about a half hour later. I touched the plastic connector and it burned my finger. It was very hot and the heat had melted the plastic insulation, exposing the raw wiring. I'm not aware of anything wrong with my usb port or computer that would cause this. I imagine it would be quite dangerous if it was then worn in the pool, as intended, and turned on with the wiring exposed.
(08/19/2014) The consumer stated that her son had been playing with the unit for about a half hour. He turned the machine off and unplugged it from the wall outlet. When he unplugged it, the power supply pack fell apart and a spark flew out. The mother board was hanging out of the power pack. (08/21/2014) The consumer called the company to advised them of the incident. The consumer was given a ref number of SMAC31461. She was asked to send the receipt. She also sent pictures. The consumer received a response about five days later from [REDACTED]. The company asked the consumer to send $15 for a new plug because there was only a ninety day warranty for the machine. The consumer was advised that there was no way that the power cord could fall apart. The consumer was advised that it was probably dropped or misused. The consumer stated that she thinks this is a potential hazard for other children.
After the product finished charging and my kids briefly played with it, I heard a loud bang from another room. My husband was in the same room as the product and turned around to see the product in the floor, black marks on the nearby wall and mattress and black soot covering the surface where it had been sitting previously and items that had been nearby. A smell filled our house. My husband removed the item to our backyard immediately.
Pulled on usb ac/dc adapter to unplug sound machine in 2 year olds room and the adapter came apart leaving two prongs from a 120V outlet extending into the room.
9/21/18 Caller placed a CD in the player and pressed start. Immediately, the disc broke apart and flew out of the player and hit the consumer. She said it became a projectile which bruised her arm as it came across the room. No medical attention was needed. Caller is concerned that if a child was present it could have caused serious injuries. The manufacturer was not contacted yet. Caller believes that this product is a safety hazard and should be reported.
3rd generation Ipod touch. Battery was running low so I attached power cable to Ipod to charge it. I checked on Ipod about 30 minutes later, the back and lower half was scolding hot. I unplugged the iPod and called Apple. Apple informed me to turn it off. I did so and after about 20 minutes the Ipod cooled down. The Ipod no longer works since incident. I informed the safety department at Apple that the Ipod as abnormally hot and had it been on paper or another flammable material, it could have become a fire hazard.
CD player came with a AC/DC converter for a USB A charging cable. The metal plugs are not strongly connected. The converter came apart leaving only the metal plugs in the outlet providing a direct connection that shocked our son.
