I purchased a GPX CD Boombox model BC111W on 3-29-11 as a gift for my daughters birthday. We starting using the boombox in her bedroom on a dresser in late April. One week later I discovered that the product was overheating. The four black rubber feet on the bottom of the boombox had partially melted leaving four black marks on the dresser. There were also brown scorch marks on the dresser top where the boombox was placed. I contacted the manufacturer on 9-8-11 and was given a response on 9-14-11 that this was a normal occurrence and there was nothing that they would do to fix the damage to the dresser. The damage is so severe that I will need to have the dresser top refinished. The dresser was new. It was purchased in January 2011. I am concerned that this product is a fire hazard.
Record player started smoking heavily when turned on after plugging in.
