i have a Dewalt DCR018 . WHEN YOU USE THE 20 VOLT BATTERIES THEY DON,T LOCK IN PLACE LIKE THE 18 VOLT ONES DO . IF YOU BUMP THE RADIO THE BATTERY WILL FALL OUT .WHETHER YOU ARE IN THE GARAGE AND KNOCK IT OVER OR ON A ROOF SO IT FALLS TO THE GROUND .
I am reporting Totem Labs for potentially selling wearable devices without proper FCC and SAR compliance testing. Totem Labs claims to have sold over 22,000 units of their device, which is designed to be worn near the chest. However, I could not locate any FCC ID or evidence of SAR testing for this product, despite its close proximity to the body, particularly the heart. There are numerous images and videos available on Totem Labs' social media platforms showing people, including children, wearing the device near their chest. This raises significant safety concerns regarding RF exposure, especially since no evidence of compliance with FCC or SAR standards is available. These devices appear to be in widespread use without meeting regulatory safety requirements. Supporting evidence includes: Marketing claims (e.g., "22,000 units sold"). Visual content from their social platforms showing individuals wearing the device. The absence of public records for FCC ID or SAR compliance. I urge the FCC to investigate this matter to protect consumers, particularly children, from potential RF exposure risks and ensure compliance with federal standards.
The consumer has experienced several issues with this scanners lithium polymer battery. After around 14 months, the batteries either explode or break out of their case. Some batteries have caught fire, due to the heat. With this most recent incident, the scanner got up to around 120 degrees easily. The consumer immediately took it outside and placed it on the sidewalk. The battery pushed the product out approx. ¼ at the time of the incident, but later that day, the radio protruded about 2-1/2. Each lithium-ion cell had expanded. Replacement batteries can cost around $60 - $70 online and the consumer has replaced 5 of them in all. The consumer contacted the product manufacturer the first 1 or 2 times this occurred, and they provided him with a replacement battery. However, with successive incidents, hes been told he must purchase a replacement batter, which he did. There is also an online ([REDACTED] form), where numerous people have reported similar issues with these radio scanner batteries.
