The consumer stated that she was using the steamer and it was leaking hot water. The consumer stated that she was using it from approximately 2-3 minutes. The consumer stated that the nozzle where the steam comes out was leaking. The consumer stated that she suffered 1st and 2nd degree burns on her left leg (ankle to calf). The consumer stated that she had to go to her personal physician who treated the burns with [REDACTED], Aloe Vera, and [REDACTED]. The consumer stated that she had to see a plastic surgeon 08/29/2012 and he looked at the burns and she would have a follow up in 3 weeks. The consumer stated that she felt as though this product should be investigated for the burn hazard that it poses to the consumer.
I was using the Joy Mangano Little Steamer, as directed, steaming curtains, so holding the device upright. Without warning the water came violently spitting out, all over my left hand. My left index finger bore the brunt of the boiling water, and a huge blister formed immediately. I promptly threw the steamer in the trash! I am still healing, but fear there will be permanent damage.
(9/20/2012) The consumer stated that his wife was using a clothes steamer for approximately 30 minutes. The consumer then noticed a flame that was approximately 5 to 8" high near the base of the unit where the plug connects to. The consumer received a minor burn to her upper right hand near her wrist. The consumer did not receive medical treatment, but applied ice and cocoa butter to her wound. (9/20/2012) The consumer contacted the manufacturer and a report was filed. A Rep. (name unknown) advised him that they would send out a return sticker for them to send the unit to their lab for inspection.
Rowenta clothing steamer caught on fire while plugged in for a few minutes. Luckily my son was home to carry it out of the house immediately but I was there to open the door for him to take it outside to distinguish before the fire got worse.
I was steaming a pair of pants with the Joy/JM Branded Brand My Little Steamer and it tipped over and the hot water came out of the steamer and hit my right thigh and I received a 3rd degree burn.

On Sunday 09/09/2012 we purchased a new electric Kenmore Elite Steam Dryer model number 796.81473. The dryer was delivered and installed on 09/11/2012. The delivery crew connected the power and the exhaust ductwork. Our exhaust duct goes through and up an internal wall into the attic and then exits out through a roof vent. The house was built in 1990 and has a three wire 240-volt, 30-amp circuit with the neutral wire also used as the ground for the dryer connection. The delivery crew installed the power cord on the dryer as/per the three wire instructions on page 13 of the manual supplied with the dryer. Except they did not use a UL listed strain relief. The power cord just went through the hole in the sheet metal wall on the back of the dryer. They test operated the dryer and it appeared to work fine. As they were leaving they noticed smoke coming out of the roof vents above the room where the dryer was installed. They notified my wife and a small fire was discovered in the attic next to the dryer exhaust duct. The installers put out the fire with a garden hose while my wife called 911. The City of Fresno Fire Department responded and cleared out any fire or water damaged insulation in the attic. They discovered that a flexible metal duct that supplies combustion air to my zero clearance fireplace had been in contact with the dryer duct and a water pipe. There are electrical arc marks on the dryer duct and the water pipe indicating that somehow the exhaust duct for the dryer had become energized and the flexible metal duct for the fireplace had completed the circuit to ground and caused the fire. Please note the lack of the UL listed strain relief was not the cause, the wires were not cut where they went through the hole. I do not know how the exhaust duct became energized but it didn't happen until the new dryer was installed and operated. Our previous dryer, of 12 years, was a natural gas unit and did not use the 240 volt circuit. Prior to that we did have an ele
