PreciseFit Gas Shut Off Valve PreciseFit Gas Shut Off ValveItem #: 188347 | Model #: 0188347 Purchased From Lowe's Home Improvement Store I installed above fuel line and shutoff valve on an MTD 8HP snowblower with a Tecumseh engine. I used the clamps supplied with the kit to secure the fuel line to the gas tank as well as to secure the fuel line to the shutoff valve. I test ran the engine and did not detect any leaks. About 1 week after the test the fuel line came disconnected from the fuel tank with the clamp still on the fuel line. This caused about 3/4 gallon of gasoline to leak onto my garage floor and seep under a wall and enter my basement. This created a fume as well as a potential fire hazard. In my opinion, the supplied clamps are not strong enough to adequately secure the fuel hose to any connections made.
We built our house 3 years ago. Before we moved in our water smelled like gasoline. We have Zurn pex pipes. Long story short, after many volatile organic compound test from the city of lansing water company (board of water and light), state of Michigan, and independent companies, it was found that we have 4 VOC in our water: acetone, MTBE, t 1-4 dichloro 2-butene, and toluene. After flushing pipes for 5 minutes, no chemicals are present. The chemicals are leaching into our water when it sits in the pex piping.
(01/2017) The consumer stated that the PEX piping, that was installed in her home when it was built, is leaching VOC compound per a water test that was done. The consumer also stated that she has had issues with headaches but it not sure if they are a result of the water that comes through the pipes.
This is in reference to the following item sold at Home Depot; KOHLER Swiftflo 1-1/2 in. Adjustable Trip Lever Drain in Polished Chrome Model # K-11660-CP, Internet # 100098339 The threads for the couplings are razor sharp and will easily cut fingers or your hand if you try to tighten the fittings by hand. I installed this drain kit and sliced two fingers on the threads. It was not serious but did bleed and required cleaning, antiseptic and bandages. I subsequently did install this product using gloves and pliers so I did not have to use bare hands. If someone was not careful or not aware of the danger, they could seriously cut themselves when attempting to install this product. I have worked on plumbing for 40 years and have never cut myself on any plumbing fixture, pipe or coupling before. I contacted the manufacturer, Kohler and they did not seem interested in either my injury or the potential dangers of their product. I attempted to repeatedly write a review on Home Depot's website warning others of the dangers of this product and my reviews were rejected.
Water coming out of our fixtures smells like diesel fuel/gas/car exhaust or a chemical. The water has been tested from where it comes into the house from the city supply and it tests good there and no smell is present. The water dept disconnected our water supply and plumbed our house into a neighbors house who has no odor or smell in their water and the smells were still coming out of our fixtures and toilets. The water is picking up or absorbing something from the pex pipes as it travels through or sits in those pipes. Some type of VOC or SVOC is being released from the plastic pipe into the water.
The water connector ez flow in our hallway upstairs bathroom busted and water flooded. we heard a bang and water spraying. we quickly turned the water off. trying to soak up the water. the cap blew up off the fitting. we have pictures.
The consumer indicates that the gas pipes he purchased leak. The consumer pressurized the pipes with air and noticed that it was losing pressure however he was unable to find the leak. The consumer then tried the soapy water method however he was unable to find the leak as well. Lastly, the consumer proceeded to use refrigeration gas R134 and within one hour it dropped to zero. With an electronic leak detector the consumer noticed that the pipes had leaks in various locations. The consumer will be returning the pipes. Report Update: My friend x-rays and inspects pipe at [REDACTED] and said my leaks are probably caused by MIC Microbiologically Influenced Corrosion, and pipes may have been hydro tested but not dried properly, causing microorganisms to destroy pipe. I did notice lots of rust inside all pipes.
I recently purchase some shark bite plumbing fittings manufactured by RWC at Home Depot and today when I was installing a 3/4" x 3/4" FNPT fitting I observed a small thread sticking out of the one end. When I grasped the thread and tried to pull it out of the fitting I found that it was still attached to the fitting and the thread was actually a small piece of microscopic wire and it lacerated the end of my finger. The sharkbite fitting was manufactured by RWC.
