This incident involves the Blossomy Blooms (7183-NU) bouncy chair made by Bright Starts. My 5 month old daughter was sitting in the Blossomy Blooms (7183-NU) bouncy chair and she was buckled in. She was able to get enough leverage from pushing against the bottom of the seat part to cause the bouncy chair to become top-heavy and fall over backwards, resulting in her hitting her head. Luckily, the isn't a large amount of space between the top of the bouncy and the floor, and I had her on carpet. I've checked over the instructions to make sure we were within the recommended usage, and we are. The weight goes up to 25lbs, she is 20lbs. The instructions state to discontinue use once the baby can sit up unassisted. She cannot yet sit on her own. The instructions also state that the child can cause the bouncy chair to slide, but it doesn't state that it can fall over backwards.
My son was using the baby delight incline bouncer when the product collapsed on him and it slammed his head on the ground. He is 3 months old. He seems to be fine now but that should never happen. He was just sitting in the seat and it came unhooked from the latch and the seat collapsed to the floor
I have seen this product advertise on [REDACTED] and the majority of the photos and videos show babies sleeping on the product. They advertise as a product that is a medical device for colic, and now have bouncers and other products that all show infants sleeping. Additionally, on their own posts they include a post that says "It has a harness to ensure they are kept safe, has passed all sleep safety tests..." While they add small disclaimers hidden from consumers, it is clear that they are marketing this product for consumers to have their baby sleep on it, which is a violation of the CPSC infant sleep ruling from June 2021 that prohibits products from being marketed for infant sleep unless they meet minimum safety standards for a crib, bassinet, play yard, or bedside sleeper. This product meets none, despite them posting that they pass all safety tests. While the product is based in the UK they ship and advertise that they ship to the United States, which would make them need to adhere to the US's safety guidelines. My 3 month old who is 12 pounds, was in the Ingenuity Baby Cradling Swing and Rocker when the rocker itself broke. The welding on the runner snapped apart causing it to wobble and become unsteady for my child to stay in.
Baby in the Fischer price rainforest bouncer and ripped the toy off of the arm and had it in his hand chewing. This is the lead toy with hanging stuffed animal attached to it. Baby was able to rip it off of the arm of the toy while playing. Not safe and should come apart like that.
My six (6) week old son, approximately eleven (11) pounds, was sitting in the Baby Bjorn Babysitter Balance, in the "A" or "play" position, when it suddenly collapsed down into the "C" or sleep position. The product was on a hardwood floor and I used it according to the manufactures specifications. I was not actively bouncing my son in the product; however, my son's movements did make the product bounce moderately up and down. This activity was within normal use of the product and did not cause abnormal loads on any structure of the product. My son was thrust violently backwards; no physical injury resulted. I believe the hard plastic "positioner" on this product is poorly designed and can easily and spontaneously come out of its position causing the product to violently collapse down into another position potentially causing serious injury or trauma. Also, any upward force and/or pressure applied at the bottom of the positioner will cause the positioner to eject out of the position notch. There is no way, such as with a simple locking mechanism, to effectively and securely lock the "positioner" into one of the three (3) active positions.
A small plastic part popped out of the seat belt of the baby chair while baby was in chair. The part that popped out is small enough for a child to choke on.
My son was about 7 months old at the time. He was sitting in the Fisher-Price Newborn to Toddler Portable Rocker. He was buckled up. He leaned forward to try to grab something from the floor, and ended up dangling on his head, still attached to the rocker. The way the rocker is built, it allows for the back to move forward with the child. He almost flipped the rocker over.
