Ground Work garden sprayer blew up on me and soaked me with chemicals
I purchased the Ace sprayer as a backup for the sprayer I was using. It was purchased a year or 2 ago but is still being sold by the company. It is sold under the Ace name as well as the manufacturer. This product is a safety hazard. It is used to spray weed killers which should not come in contact with the person using it. This is impossible with the design of this product. There is no release valve. The top is unscrewed to release the pressure in it. When the top is unscrewed the contents of the tank spray up at your face. There is no way to avoid this. They instruct the user to turn the tank to the side to unscrew it but it still sprays in your face. With this design it would have to be upside down but then of course it would leak out of the top. I tried releasing the wok-shaped top several times using water and was sprayed in my face and upper body every time. My old tank sprayer manufactured by [REDACTED] also, had a top lid that completely covers the top opening of the tank. When the pressure is released by opening the top the air sprays down due to the lid. This is the only way it should be allowed to be manufactured. I've enclosed a picture of the new cork-type lid.
While spraying weeds in my lawn with [REDACTED] weed killer for lawns, the Hudson Flow Master pumpless hand sprayer I was using came apart, resulting in the entire contents of weed killer solution dumping all over my feet legs, shoes and socks. I immediately did the correct protocol for first aid for such a spill but my shoes were ruined, as they had some leather on them and cannot be decontaminated. I had just refilled the container. The latch on the back of the unit appears to have only a tiny bit of shelf upon which to latch it shut. It is a design flaw in my opinion and do not recommend anyone use this sprayer.
I purchased a GreenThumb Pumpless Pro multi-purpose sprayer about a month ago. I've used it 3 times, and on 2 occasions, the hose detached from the spray wand, dousing me with the contents (an insecticide mix). Because the valve is in the spray wand, once the hose detaches from the spray wand, there is no way to shut off the flow of the liquid insecticide mix until all the pressure is released. The hose is only held onto the wand by a friction fit (there is no hose clamp) and no pressure regulator on the sprayer, so failure of this kind is unavoidable and inevitable. Given the types of toxic chemicals typically applied with a garden sprayer, this product is incredibly dangerous and should be recalled immediately.
I was pumping a sprayer that is advertised for home and garden use to spray weeds and apply sealers which are dangerous chemicals. The hose tube burst as I was pumping and sprayed me on my feet and a bit in my face. This could have ended up in a tragedy if I got sprayed in the eyes. This product is unsafe and the manufacturer and distributor should remove it from the shelves.
I filled a Gardenline one-gallon multi-purpose spray tank with one gallon of weed killer mix, took it to the driveway in front of my garage, and pumped 3-4 times to begin to pressurize it. I heard a loud boom and the entire front of the tank opened up and blew the fluid all over the driveway. I was wearing shorts, and some of the fluid went on my boots and legs. I immediately washed it off my legs and then cleaned up as best I could. Fortunately, I was wearing glasses, a mask, and gloves, or else some of the spray could have gotten in my eyes. If the back of the tank had blown out, the fluid would have gone all over me and into my garage. If I had been able to pressurize the tank fully and had been carrying it and spraying at the time of the blowout, the situation could have been even worse. I inspected the tank and took pictures that I will attach. The plastic appears not to be of sufficient thickness and quality to hold the pressure needed to be a safe and dependable spray tank. I purchased the tank at Aldi in North Port, FL, 4/27/2016 as an extra sprayer. I have two much older one-gallon tanks that have performed well and safely. I have used the Gardenline sprayer only a few times for very light duty. It has never suffered any damage or abuse before the incident but has been stored in my shed where I keep the others. The tank had no apparent hole or crack in it before the incident or it would not have held sufficient pressure to blow up.
I purchased an outdoor mist cooling system on 07/15/2022 from Mistcooling.com. The product has 110VAC electricity in the same enclosure as a 250 psi water pump. The manufacturer did not insulate against water spraying on the electrical connections; nor did they provide a circuit breaker or GFI of any type. It turns out that - on my system - the connector that supplies water from the user's garden hose water supply to the 110VAC pump is leaking water under pressure right next to the pump and the solenoid that activates when the pump is turned on. This design will cause a serious injury or perhaps death due to electrical shock when the user steps in the water puddle caused by the leak to turn on or off the pump.
I was using a pesticide / sprayer combination to spray some trees in my yard. When I tried to turn the sprayer off, the nozzle / valve combination came off in my hand and the pesticide sprayed uncontrollably, some spraying back on myself. Fortunately, my wife was near the faucet and was able to turn off the water supply and stop the spray. The nozzle/valve combination seems to be poorly designed to pop off so easily, allowing an uncontrollable release of the sprayer contents.
