Hello, I purchased VEVOR rails, and the bottom clearance measures 4 inches from the deck floor to first cable mount opening, rather than the specified safe 3 inches. (photo attached with measurement)This is consistent with the issue noted in the recent product safety alert of which you have advised my model number is not included. For my family safety, I intend to report this model to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to ensure this particular model is properly reviewed and, if necessary, included in any relevant advisories and recalls. The model numbers do not match Home Depot however rail is exactly the same as pictured. I am reporting this is the same rail and requesting it be included in the recall. I can provide photos if requested or link sent to send the pics.
Railing was installed on my deck by a licensed contractor and installation was properly done. After 3 years the bottom rail on one of the sections warped down and the aluminum balusters became less secure to the point they actually could fall out with little pressure. We have 11 grandkids who naturally look out the deck railing and pull on them. One of the balusters did pull out. When I checked later in the day I found that with little effort four adjacent balusters were easily be pushed out. This could easily have caused a tragic fall off our deck. I'm an engineer by training and this is a fundamental design flaw. The southern yellow pine that the railings are made of very often warp with time and that warping can easily increase the separation between the top and bottom rails to the point the balusters in the center can fall out.
Building product manufactured by Railing Dynamics, inc., is dangerously ineffective. I had built a deck on my home using the RDI Endurance Original Railing made of PVC and the railing brackets are spontaneously developing cracks. The brackets are a crucial element of the structural integrity of the railing. There has been one minor injury directly attributed to the failure of this railing system due to poor design engineering of this product.
I installed an exterior stainless steel stair rail 12/05/2021. Since then the welds have failed making the rail unstable an hazardous to anyone depending on it for assistance climbing the steps.
Stainless steel 304 cable railing deck posts from www.vevor.com do NOT meet US building code because the gap between the bottom cable hole and the bottom of the post exceeds 4 inches. The gap is nearly 5 inches. Further, screws used to attach RAILINGS to posts are too weak and will not support required loads.
I purchased a railing used for one or two step according to The Amazon's description of the product. I purchased it for my elderly mother who has a artificial hip so she can walk up and down the steps safely. Thankfully there was no injuries. I purchased it Dec 2 2023 and installed it Dec 9 2023 and failed today Dec 10 2023. Amazon only refunded me for the cost of the product. I still have the railing. Amazon showed no concern. It also left permanent damage from the mounting bracket on the aluminum siding. The tubular railing broke clearly off the mounting bracket without excessive force or use.
The caller stated that she purchased the rails with the brackets for the outdoor stairwell, one bracket broke when they were being installed. It was replaced and a bracket broke upon installation of the new set. 10/21/13 The manufacturer was contacted and they informed her that they had not have any reports of incidents involving installations of rake brackets The caller is concerned that these rails are unsafe and should be reported. UPDATE FROM CONSUMER: Company states there have been no other incidents involving broken rake railing brackets. I have a hard time believing this as a bracket on their replacement brackets also broke at weld. Looks like cheap Chinese weld material. They are a bit slow at responding to my request for replacement bracket and reimbursement for installation. So far they have been cooperative and nice about it.
