The consumer indicates that her oven ranges main burner knob sticks out and will turn on the turbo-boil with the slightest touch, many times unbeknownst to the consumer. This issue has happened at least a dozen times already, and on multiple occasions containers and plates have melted. The consumer has now removed the knob in order to avoid future incidents. The consumer states the cooktop is used approximately once or twice daily whereas the oven is used roughly two to three times per month. The consumer plans on keeping her oven range for at least the next thirty days in case an investigation ensues.
This is a glass top stove from Samsung M#NE58R9311SS/AA, S#NE58R9311SS/AA It is designed to overhang the counter top to prevent food and other items from falling between the stove and counter. In the middle of the night my daughter heard a loud pop and could not find the source until the next morning when she saw the front left corner of the glass top on the stove had broken and left sharp edges exposed.
Our oven door glass exploded. Oven was on warm, not hot. We have never used the self-cleaning feature.
WARNING Kenmore Range model 790.96613409 has unpredictable fire danger flaw in control panel The other day we joined what we never knew was a large group and had a fire in our Kenmore Range caused by the electronic clock/timer, oven control. This Kenmore tagged range was built by Frigidaire for Sears and is model number 790.96613409. I loved this range and it cost us a lot of money. In fact I have been a Sears guy for 50 years! Our ordeal began when the Kenmore Range's electronic panel (with oven and clock/timer controls) shorted out suddenly in it's insides and then burst into flames! There was lots of smoke and a shower of sparks spraying up the wall behind and above the range, within the several long seconds it took for the houses main circuit breaker panel to trip off the ranges electricity! This was incredibly terrifying and you might imagine my ( I will be polite ) SURPRISE, to research the internet about the burnt to a crisp clock/timer oven control, only to discover that there have been an incredible number of these fires for several years and all over the country! AND the replacement timer control offered by Sears, still to this day...is...none other ...than part number 316418702, made by the company called ( now get this ) "SPITFIRE Controls Inc. This name couldn't have described my experience with this product any better. [REDACTED}
(09/05/2020)The consumer has a safety concern in reference to the oven door. She stated that hot steam is coming from the top when the oven door is closed. The consumer has only used two of the three settings and it happens on both the basic and convection settings. (09/08/2020)The consumer contacted the firm. They are going to schedule a repair visit.
I am a fire investigator for the Kansas City Kansas Fire Department. I recently investigated an oven fire in an apartment. The resident stated he smelled something hot in his apartment when he discovered a fire in his oven. He looked and verified all the controls of the oven and stove top were turned off. The did not see any lights on the control panel indicating anything was on. He opened the oven door and used a dry chemical fire extinguisher to attempt to extinguish the fire. He then called 911. The fire crew arrived on the scene and saw smoke in the apartment. They got to the oven and verified all the controls were in the off position. They also verified the door lock was in the open position. They could see the inside of the oven glowing. The oven did not stop glowing until they unplugged it from the 220 volt outlet. The resident stated he had not used the oven for the last month. The owner of the apartment stated he thought the oven was about 7 years old.
The glass door on my Kenmore wall oven just shattered for no reason! No one was even near it.
Samsung slide in range model # NE58K9500SG/AA glass stovetop has cracked and been replaced twice. Both times the stovetop was not being used and nothing touching it. The last time the Samsung tech said it was physical damage and not a defect which was totally false. Samsung replaced the top the first time but refused to replace it a second time. My wife was wiping down the top with a sponge and received an electric shock when water fell into the stove through a crack. We are continuing to use the stove because we cannot afford a replacement at this time.
