I have an Arrow Fastener T50DCD staple gun which began to malfunction in a VERY dangerous way this week. This is an electric (battery) staple gun. When working properly, you turn a power switch on, then you press the gun against a surface, then you pull the trigger and a staple is fired at high velocity into the material. When working properly the trigger will not fire a staple unless the gun is pressed into the material surface (which depresses a safety switch). This week, I turned the power switch on and the staple gun began firing staples at high velocity in rapid succession out of the gun WITHOUT me pressing the trigger OR pressing the gun into a material. Literally the act of turning the gun on caused it to start firing staples until the gun ran out of staples. I was lucky that the gun was pointed away from me or it would have fired several staples into my foot, leg, or face before I would have had time to react. This is HORRIBLY dangerous.
Puchased a EWORK Model GJ-ENG-2 electric stapler from Amazon. Upon arrival, I tested it. I filled the tool with supplied staples. When I plugged it in, It rapid fired all loaded staples, even before I could press it to a piece of 2x4 wood. It missed my hand by a foot. If my head had been in its range, I'd be eyeless.
Smoke started coming from the power connection of the stapler. When unplugged from the stapler, the adapter at the end of the power cord went into flames.
I purchased and use a Bostitch fine wire stapler (part number 21680B). I was shocked to learn that it has no safety to prevent inadvertent firing of the staples. This is extremely dangerous because the trigger is very sensitive and easily bumped. Once the stapler fires a staple it is propelled with sufficient velocity to deeply penetrate hard wood. If the staple hits human flesh it easily penetrates to the full depth of the staple. If it hits an eye, blindness could result. The lack of a safety is reckless and easily fixable by Bostitch because a similar tool (part number HP118K) has a safety and the total retail cost of the parts is $2.53. I contacted Bostitch and they refused to retrofit the 21680B despite the danger to the consumer and the ridiculously low cost.
I was using a Swingline Electric Staplegun (Model 34302) today. When I plugged the stapler into the wall outlet, it EXPLODED in a dozen pieces! My hands and leg were injured.
Just got stuck in the hand by a NMSC Staple, type used in electrical wiring, that was foolishly packaged in a plastic bag, unsuitable for safe containment of this product (GB Gardner Bender MSI-50B 50 count NM Staples purchased from Home Depot. Drew blood. All other electrical cable staples are packaged in clear hard plastic or cardboard box. This is a consumer safety issue due to irresponsible and inadequate packaging. I used to wire & know all about handling wiring material & still got stuck, not right.
