8/28/17 During construction I used the O2 Cool cooling towel to keep cool inside. I had rinsed it thoroughly and refrigerated it and used it for about two hours around my neck and chest and face. Hours later massive severe contact dermatitis that the doctor diagnosed it a chemical burn and took pictures and told me I need to report it. I have what looks like 2nd degree burns still 3 days later!!
(07/12/2024) The consumer stated that she has used the product about four times. She didn't notice that the product had a slow leak. However, on Friday, 7/12, the product was leaking a chemical that went through her shirt and caused a chemical burn on her skin. The consumer was treated at the doctor's office. The consumer would know what chemicals are in the product.
I just filed an incident report but had accidentally sent it before I completed my contact information. The report is regarding a face rash and allergic reaction in the eyes in a child using the O2Cool Arcticloth cooling towel on July 16 and 17, 2013. As I already said, my 10-year-old daughter is suffering from discomfort, rash, and swollen eyes after using this product twice. We thought her symptoms were a sunburn the first time since she spent a day in the sun playing tennis. The second time she used it she was in bed and had it wrapped around her face and neck because she wanted the coolness to comfort her from her itchy face and rash. We didn't realize until after a couple of hours when she awoke in discomfort that it was the cloth that was causing her problems. We've treated her with Benadryl and may see a doctor in the morning. Her breathing seems to be okay and we're monitoring her sleep. There are other consumers with similar experiences with this product according to customer reviews on Amazon.com. The product has no directions or safety information or warnings. Consumers need this information so they can prevent the harm that has been caused my daughter.
I got DARUNAXY Evaporative Cooling Towels as a gift. You're supposed to get them wet, wring them out, and wrap them around your neck or head to keep cool. I did this yesterday. Within about ten minutes, I started getting a rash on the left side of my neck, where the towel had the most contact with my skin. I took the towel off, and over the course of the day, the rash became very itchy, burned, and inflamed. I tried to put burn/itch cream on it, and it burned like crazy, so I took it off with rubbing alcohol. Overnight, the rash became more inflamed and crusty. It's a good four inches high and six inches across. I looked up the company, Darunaxy, and can find no information about the company at all, besides they're Chinese. I'm afraid something that was in/on the towels caused a severe skin reaction and I can't find anything that tells me what chemical they may have used on these.
A patient ingested one half of a hand warmer packet which caused elevated serum iron levels and caustic injury in esophagus and stomach.
I bought a hand-warmer from a company called FourHeart. While charging the product (as directed) it exploded on my couch. Burn holes from the debris were left in my furniture and carpet. I had professional estimates which I then passes on to FourHeart. They refused to cover the damages.
My daughter placed the smooth Vivatar Hot/Cold Massage Ball in the microwave per the package instructions. The ball exploded in the microwave. The force of the ball exploding against the microwave door caused the microwave to stop working. Hot gel like liquid was all over the interior of the microwave and we were forced to replace the unit.
Dear Honorable Attorney General, I hope you will assist me regarding my issues and concern for the safety of consumers in purchasing an item for home remedy/healthcare. I recently purchased a cervical gel collar for my neck from a catalog company named The Feel Good Store 6864 Engle Rd Cleveland, Ohio 44130 This gel collar could be placed in the freezer or heated in the microwave. It was made in China and has proven to be defective and hazardous to the consumer. I followed the directions for warming up the collar to a "T" in my 700 watt microwave (see enclosed directions sheet). After 2 30 sec. heating times, my microwave had a burn mark on its left wall and a hole was burned thru the collar to the gel. A horrid odor was inside the microwave & in the room. Ashes came out of the hole in the collar. I saw no smoke or flame but put the collar under the faucet. The collar was NEVER EVER warm enough to the touch and obviously had interna / external hot spots. It was a bad egg, defectively manufactured in China. I've had no problems with the Feel Good Store in receiving a credit for the defective merchandise. I did encourage them to take the item off the list for sale to consumers.I am writing you so you may enforce my concern. I was fortunate . But another person might have a fire to deal with or injure themselves with this defective collar. Can you please follow up on this matter? I do hope the company will not sell anymore of these collars to the public. Yours truly, [REDACTED]
