Fire occured on 12/29/10 in the living room at the live christmas tree about 12:20 pm. No one was at home at the time. Passer by saw smoke called 911 Mccloud fire dept. OKlahoma responded. Bought a live 11ft Frasier fir with stand and three strands of 300 bulb Home Accents model 501 336 garland mini lights at Home Depot on Dec 12,2010. Set up tree and put lights on tree end to end, 3 strands. No other lights were put on tree and no other electric items. Pluged in lights into plug-strip No problem untill fire occurred, keeped tree watered. The only thing that burned was the tree. Plug strip was ok, only small pieces of lights remained. The only ignition source was the lights. I belive the lights are defective.
I purchased a string of outdoor patio lights at a Menard's store in Coon Rapids, Minnesota. The set cost $29.99, plus tax. The product is called "40 ct. Globe Light Set," by Enchanted Garden. The box carries the UL emblem. The lighting set is comprised of 40 small Christmas-style lamp bulbs, each encased within a 1.5 inch diameter clear glass globe. The lamps are attached at approximately 1 foot intervals along the 41 foot long cord. The light set is designed to be plugged into a standard 120 volt outlet. When I removed the product from its packaging, I noticed that a few of the glass globes were broken. The glass globes are extremely thin, and while gently grasping one in my hand, it broke into shards of thin glass. Fortunately, I was not injured. I carefully set the lights down on the lawn in front of my house and observed that several more globes shattered. I had to pick up the shards of glass due to concerns that someone may step on it. I made no further effort to use the lighting set and returned it to its box. I plan to return the set to Menard's for a refund.
LED lights for a felt Christmas tree caught on fire this morning near the battery pack power source.
My wife bought christmas lights for an artificial tree. As soon we finished decorating the tree I proceeded to connect the lights to the wall power outlet. Aproximately 10 seconds after this I heard a noise fom behind the tree. Before I could find the source of the noise the christmas light cable set cought fire on a piece about 3 inches long startin from one of the bulbs. Part of the tree cought fire also. I though my wife had used UL approved lights but she had mixed one UL approved with another set. The unsafe product was purchased at Allways 99, item #50340, 100 light set, made in China, bar code 0-17845-50340-5, imported by Caribbean Retail Ventures INC, Caguas, PR. Thank you [REDACTED]
I bought several sets of Christmas tree lights at Target that started to burn the tree's needles after being lit for less than an hour.The tree is fresh, has no dropping or brown needles, and the branches & needles still bend. The light bulbs are the size of a large gumball; they became very hot within 15 minutes and after 45 minutes, the needles that came in contact with the bulbs started turning brown and crisp. Target brand, 25 G30 Multi Satin Indoor/Outdoor Light Set, product no. 051 04 1644, box of 25, length of 25 feet, $8.99 per box. Bar code no. 28208 20259. Marked "Distributed by Target Corporation, Minnesota, MN 55403, Shop Target.com, Made in China." Lights purchased 11/27/11 and 12/01/11.
The lights were on a tree on the outside of the home. The consumer stated that about a week and a half ago, the globes filled with water after it rained. The glass globes started falling off of the tree onto the ground. This left sharp jagged edges on the cord where the lights were located and on the globes. The consumer is concerned about the safety of the product because the sharp edges can cause someone to get a cut if they pick up the globes and not see the jagged edges.
I purchased a Bubble-Brite bubble light set for my Christmas tree. I put it on my tree and plugged it in. It got amazingly hot, as hot as an iron. I unplugged it and removed it. To put this product on A CHIRSTMAS TREE is nuts.
The LED red string lights on my Christmas tree made a very loud popping sound, then I smelled smoke. The prongs and the plug are burned and black, and the extension cord it was plugged into was also black. I had 4 strings of lights on the Christmas tree and they were lit at the time of the incident.
