UV insect trap tripped GFCI, which would not reset. Product was too hot to touch, and case was deformed. This could have caused a burn injury (it did not) and could have started a fire absent a GFCI (imagine 20 amps, almost 2.5 kilowatts, flowing through this little plastic gadget before a circuit breaker trips).
This unit is being used as a porch / bug light on my back deck. After being left on for a few hrs it comes apart , the bottom of the bulb comes off and the electronics drop down and hang buy the wires. I have removed the bulb seversl time and changed it with one of the other bulbs that came in the 4 pak and they all seem to do the same thing. There have been no injuries at this time.
I have the Above Edge Pest Blast Insect Zapper Bulb 4 pack (2 in 1 Mosquito Killer Bulb). On one of the bulbs, the plastic housing that covers the LED lighting element came off and I was burned by the LEDs when trying to reinstall the plastic housing. There is a recall for the bulb listed here http://www.cpsc.gov/en/Recalls/2016/HAUS-Mosquito-Zapper-LED-Light-Bulbs-Recalled-by-Creative-Sourcing/ However, when I called the manufacturer about the recall, they said only bulbs with the HAUS brand are affected by the recall, and my bulb looks identical to the recalled bulb but is listed as Above Edge PestBlast, but it looks identical to the recalled bulb. The vendor that sold me these bulbs (woot.com) said these bulbs were in fact recalled. The Manufacturer's Interactive Voice Response system says only the HAUS brand are recalled. I tried to get through to someone at the manufacturer and the phone just rang and rang. The bulbs do not contain a serial number of any kind.
Ear nerve damage sustained from use of product one night.
Inserted light bulb into lamp. shade had significant clearance. went to sleep, smoke alarm went off, found lamp in flames, suffered burn on hand, extinguished by smothering and with water, circuit breaker was tripped, tried to contact Woot to report, unsuccessful, found Amazon owned Woot, with difficulty found number for their law department, callers had to leave message, left detailed message of danger and damages long with contact info, have not heard anything from them. Incredibly on Sept 11, Woot advertised product again in daily e-mail for 'outdoor/indoor" use.
Bug zapper LED bulb breaks apart where the socket screws into a standard light bulb socket, exposing live wires. The product appears to have the same defect as one recalled: [REDACTED] I was contacted by Amazon about the recall, so then I contacted the [REDACTED], but they refuse to replace this bulb. Theirs is called "[REDACTED] manufactured by [REDACTED]." My product was sold on Amazon by RC Products LLC as "OUTXPRO Mosquito Light Bulb Bug Zapper - Flying Insects Wasp Moths Killer" Hence, this report is filed.
The lightbulb detached and fell off. I turned off the power and tried to unscrew the top, but I can't get it off. The problem is that it's attached to a power supply for the whole basement, so I can't turn on the basement light without sending power to this fallen-out lightbulb, and the basement has all of our supplies and our LAUNDRY, and we do laundry every day. So I'm REALLY worried about a fire - is there a fire hazard? We have three young kids and I really need help removing it.
Ordered from Amazon.com. Received and installed in outdoor entry ligh. Went out following afternoon and found light had separated and was hanging by one side of cover. Turned off electricity, removed and installed similar product from another manufacturer. It is still working well.
