I had purchased the Baby Einstein Sea Dreams Soother a few months ago. We installed it according to the instructions onto the side of our son's crib. The other day we heard a loud bang and looked on our video monitor and saw that the soother was in our son's crib. After removing our son from the crib we reattached the soother. My husband pulled down on it and sure enough it came crashing down. We reattached it several times to make sure the clip had clipped all the way and it came off each time even after we heard the click when we attached it. I am in the process of contacting the manufacturer to get a replacement but wanted to report it in case it happens to anyone else. We were lucky it didn't land on his head.

I walked into my sons room the other day and he had a piece of the mobile in his mouth. It had fallen out of the mobile. It was the size of about a half dollar and could have easily lodged in his throat. I am so thankful I went in when I did and he was okay. The piece that dislodged was supposed to be glued on it seems. I have a picture of the piece of mobile that it was. I am very upset about this and want to make sure that it does not happen to anyone else who has purchased this mobile. Please let me know if you would like any additional information. The vtech crib mobile was hanging attached from my sons crib when i noticed one of the straps holding it to the crib came un attached from the mobile. Then a week later (approx) the whole strap came un attached from the mobile and fell into the crib with my son. This is very dangerous, as luckily he didnt get hurt but a) the mobile could have hit him in the head causing damage as its hard plastic or b) he could have got a hold of it and hurt himself with the strap.
My sun was sleeping in his crib when the solar system mobile from Pottery Barn kids fell on him. Upon inspection we noted that the nylon string from which the mobile was hung (provided with the mobile), snapped at the point it was connected to the mobile. It appears the the mobile was blown by the fan, and swirled around. Eventually, the torsional stress caused the string to snap, causing the mobile to fall. Of note, some websites have warnings to not hang a specific mobile over a bed. At the time of the incident, pottery barn did not include any such warning on the mobile webpage. Back in 2007 we bought 2 of the Fisher-Price Rainforest Waterfall Peek-a-Boo Soother. In 2008 we packed the toys up in a cardboard box and put it in the closet until we decided to have more children. Recently we unpacked the box because we are a few weeks away from having a second baby. When I unpacked the crib toys and took off the battery cover to replace the batteries I noticed a bunch of brown goopy stuff leaking out of the toy. The bottom part of the toy (where the fish/water is) was half empty in 1 of the units and almost all the way empty in the other unit. It seems that the water substance leaked out rusted the batteries and was leaking out of the toy. I contacted Fisher Price/Mattel about my issue and they stated that the water "evaporated" from the toy. If the water just evaportated then why was there brown goey stuff leaking out of the back of the toy? To me this is a huge saftey concern, if a child was to ingest this brown rusty fluid it could get really sick. I explained this to fisher price and they seemed to not be too concerned and just wanted to offer me a $10 voucher towards a new toy. The toys are both in excellent condition with no cracks which may have caused them to leak, I believe this is a defect in the toy. Paint peeling off a baby toy potential ingestion risk
I was assembling a Target Circo Musical Mobile 030 -02-1159 that plays brahm's lullaby when I found that there was an error in the dies used for manufacturing and the mobile will only assemble backwards (I.E. different that the instructions display). The mobile we have can only be assembled so that the clamping nut orients to the inside of the crib. The nut is of large diameter and could be loosened by a child once they gain their faculties. In the upright an arm there is an alignment groove/tang and locking tit that orients the unit, and they are diametrically opposed to how the instructions show them. Unsure if every unit was mis-manufactured or just this lot, but some unknowing person will assemble it and not realize the nut is on the wrong side of the crib. I haven't returned to the store yet, and would be happy to send photos of the unit and a PDF of the assy. instructions
We own the Baby Einstein Sea Dreams Soother. Last night and tonight, the soother unlatched itself and fell into my son's crib. During the incident this evening, it actually struck my son in the head. Thankfully there weren't any cuts or visible, immediate bruising, but there were some very heavy tears. I plan on monitoring him throughout the night, because of the seriousness of the tears and because his crib is on the lowest setting and the soother fell quite far.
