A can of Armor All Wheel and Tire Cleaner on my garage shelf exploded on August 23, 2025 at 4:30 pm. The force was so great that the top of the can blew a hole through my garage ceiling
The consumer indicates that she took her vehicle to her dealer to have it cleaned out since it was emitting a mildew smell. The car was cleaned with biosweep odor removal. Ever since the cleaning of her car with this product, the consumer indicates that her vehicle emits a very strong smell; people that ride in her car complain about it as well. The consumer has since then been experiencing throat inflammation, sinus infection, chest plain, ear pain, itchy face, diarrhea, vomiting, severe body pain, stomach pain, and other symptoms. The consumer has had to visit her Doctor several times over the past months. The consumer explained the situation and her Doctor recommended she not use her car as her health is deteriorating. The consumer has tried to contact the dealer but they are not assisting her. The consumer contacted the Manufacturer and explained to them that when the dealer cleaned her car they did not remove her clothing and other belongings from it. The representative she spoke informed her that they should not have done this as the product could have come into contact with her clothing and later on in her skin.
Used RainX Headlight Restoration Kit outdoors (not in enclosed area) and as directed on package, which involved spraying lubricant on headlights and 3 polishing pads in 3 stages of polishing as well as use of headlight polishing compound (not airborne) and spray sealant (used very briefly at end of process). Instructions do not mention the need for respirator or mask. No known allergies or asthma, and I am in fine health otherwise. First time, within an hour of use, experienced feeling of pressure on chest that lasted one day. Several weeks later, used again as directed to improve one of the headlights. This time within an hour of use, after having felt in perfect health beforehand, experienced irritation of bronchial passages, pain in sternum, severe coughing, coughing up yellow mucus containing pink streaks. Symptoms have continued unabated for over 1 week. No shortness of breath, no pain in lungs outside of central bronchial area, some fatigue but no difficulty exercising. Suspect subtilisn detergent enzyme that mimics mold spores (since lubricant contains "surfactants") or quartz silica (as in 3M's product). MSDS sheets report only one chemical per product in the kit and company phone representative refused to reveal other ingredients (said they were "proprietary"). Physician cannot treat without knowing cause, and company is refusing to assist. Physician suggested inhaler or steroids but I am not having any trouble breathing.
I had a severe allergic reaction to the Armor All Leather Care with Beeswax 18934. I've contacted the company multiple times. My doctor advised that I needed to contact the company to get the directions on how to strip the product from my vehicle and to obtain the ingredients list to confirm the specific allergy. I've provided them pictures and the specific diagnosis from the doctor but they continue to avoid providing me with the information requested. I haven't been able to sleep through the night since May 25, 2021. I've had to take off two days of work and adjust my work schedule because of this. I've incurred unplanned medical expenses because of this. I've tried to do my own research to locate specific product ingredients but I am unable to locate it 1) on the product packaging, 2) online via their website or 3) on the material safety data sheet.
The respondent is the [REDACTED] and his office reported the death of a 3year, 5 month old child after ingesting some Foaming Wheel Brite Acid Cleaner. The cleaner had been transferred from a 1 gallon container to a drinking container.
I purchased a 12 oz container of O'Reilly brand of Fuel Injector & Carburetor cleaner to clean gummed up ejectors thinking it might be better than lacquer thinner that I have used in the past. After soaking an ejector, I removed it by hand as I have done with other solvents in the past. My hand became very sticky and felt different than other solvents. In the process, my other hand came in contact with the cleaner as well. I immediately washed my hands. My hands were still sticky. I ran a test with lacquer thinner to see if it would cut the cleaner. Not soluble. Gasoline was then used to try to draw the cleaner out of my skin. After washing, still sticky and the hands starting to fill stiff. I tried a number of other soaps used by mechanics with no luck. The cleaner is still on my hands and sticky. On the Internet I found the Material Safety Data Sheet on the cleaner. Under symptoms: it causes defatting of tissue. Under Medical conditions generally aggravated by exposure: None Known. The First Aid section says: Wash with soap and water thoroughly. False! That does not work! On the cleaner container caution label: Avoid contact with eyes or repeated contact with skin. Not true! It should say NO contact and say how to clean off of hands. To date, my hands still feel stiff and sore even though they no longer feel sticky. I am inclined to think that permanent damage has been done. This product needs to have a special caution label with the procedure for removing from hands.
We purchased "Wipe New" product which is located near checkout register. Product advertises for use on interior leather and vinyl for cars. I used a very small amount, as directed, on my [REDACTED] SUV steering wheel. This product is so highly toxic that my husband and I both experienced severe light headedness and extreme dizziness. When I laid down in the evening after using this in my vehicle, the entire room was spinning. I was very confused about what was causing these symptoms but recognized the very strong odor this product left in my car that lingered for at least a month. I even wondered if it was maybe only for use on the exterior of cars so I re-read instructions. Definitely says for use on car interiors. finally 2 months after use the vehicle is smelling normal. Periodically, I am still experiencing dizziness form having this product used in my vehicle. We saved box. It is so toxic, we are keeping the product & box outdoors. Attached are pictures of the product. My husband experienced same symptoms but also felt like he was going to pass out. We have brought this highly toxic product to your attention as we believe it is dangerous to the public. We are both normal, healthy individuals. This product could be lethal.
